Caucus for clean water on Tuesday,
February 3, 2026, 7PM!

Precinct caucuses are Tuesday, Feb 3rd at 7pm, and it's a chance for you to speak up for clean water -- in whatever political party you belong to.

Become a delegate! At your precinct caucus you will have a chance to become a delegate to party conventions, where we can make sure that we endorse candidates who will fight for clean water. Delegates are elected for *TWO YEAR TERMS.* That means, if you show up this Tuesday, you will have the ability to be a delegate at conventions this year and next year. Many important races will be taking place over that span, including Governor, Legislature, County Commission, and key city council seats. Even if you've never caucused before, we encourage you to give it a go. It's the most direct way to be a part of political decision-making in our state.

RESOLUTIONS.

Duluth for Clean Water stands for protecting our vulnerable fresh water supply for all Minnesotans and for future generations. We suggest these two resolutions this year (though we encourage you to seek out others as you see fit):

A. Stand Up for Minnesota’s Water Resolution:
This resolution language is being supported by numerous partner organizations. If you want to print a pre-prepared resolution form with this text on it, Friends of the BWCA has provided that option here.

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED: The DFL Party supports clean water and supports a policy that would protect Minnesota's many waters from the dangers of copper-sulfide mining and protect Minnesota from the foreign mining companies seeking to exploit and profit from our resources.

Whereas, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, copper-nickel sulfide mining is the most polluting industry in the U.S. It has an unbroken track record of polluting surrounding water systems.

Whereas, there has never been a nickel or copper mine in Minnesota, let alone at the headwaters of iconic watersheds such as the Boundary Waters, Lake Superior, and the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers.

Whereas, international mining conglomerates behind the proposed mines in Minnesota–Glencore, Teck, Antofagasta, and Rio Tinto–have long histories of violating environmental laws and mistreating both union and non-union workers that in 2024 the International Trade Union Confederation named Glencore (a parent company of proposed NewRange-PolyMet sulfide mines) as one of seven entities that undermine democracy and violate human and workers’ rights.

B. Hyperscale Data Center Moratorium Resolution:

Hyperscale data centers are consuming resources at incredible and unsustainable rates. Minnesota is awash in new and rushed proposals to exploit our state resources for the benefit of Big Tech billionaires. This is a water issue, a metals issue, an energy issue and more. DFCW supports the call for a MORATORIUM on hyperscale data centers in Minnesota until 1) we have a real regulatory framework in place to protect our state, and 2) Minnesotans have had the time and information to actually understand and make decisions about what is before us. None of this has happened yet.

Consider this Resolution calling for a moratorium on data centers from our friends at CURE.

About

Duluth for Clean Water is an all-volunteer 501c4 organization seeking a healthy future for the St. Louis River and Lake Superior watershed. We formed in 2016 to oppose the Glencore/PolyMet copper sulfide mining proposal as a health and safety threat to downstream communities. With the help of people all across Minnesota, we have so far succeeded in stopping this threat. Now, what began as PolyMet has rebranded as NewRange, and the threat persists. Join us in opposing this gamble that we cannot afford.

As an all-volunteer organization with an informal membership structure, we can do a lot with a little. Please consider a donation of $1, $10, $25, or $50 dollars today. Even a few hundred dollars goes a long way to help cover our signs, materials, t-shirts, website, and various administrative costs. Donations to DFCW are not tax deductible.
