From our friends at Friends of the BWCA: Join Friends of the Boundary Waters and all people who love the BWCA for this critical listening session on the Forest Service's request to end the practice of leasing federal mineral rights in the Boundary Waters watershed to mining companies for 20 years. We need you there! We will update this event as more information becomes available (trainings, workshops, etc.) Click here to RSVP: https://bwcawithdrawal.eventbrite.com/
Note: Duluth for Clean Water focuses on protecting the Lake Superior Watershed from dangerous copper sulfide mining (PolyMet). However, we support the efforts of those groups seeking to protect the BWCA from copper sulfide mining too (Twin Metals). This Thursday's hearing is about the BWCA, but DFCW will be there in solidarity.
Friends of the BWCA and Save the BWCA are both facilitating comments for the March 16 hearing.
